Your privacy

We keep as little as we can, and only to run your lessons.

What we keep

  • Your account: the ID Google gives us when you sign in with Google, your email address, your display name and your time zone. We never see your Google password, and we don't store profile photos.
  • Your learning: the lessons you finish, your points, your streak and the games you play, so the path and your streak work.
  • Reports you send about a phrase, so our language team can fix it.
  • Streak reminders, if you turn them on: the hour you chose and each device's push subscription.
  • If you record phrases for us: your recordings, your acceptance of the contributor agreement, and the review decisions on them. Approved recordings are played to learners; nothing else about you is shown with them.
  • Security records: your sign-in sessions and, for the team, the authenticator app and a log of actions taken in the dashboard.

Speaking practice stays on your device: what you record there is never uploaded. We don't use advertising, tracking cookies or analytics that follow you around the web.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data or share it for advertising. A few trusted service providers help us host the app, send email, find errors and take donations; they handle data only on our behalf. Donations are made on our payment provider's own page: we never see card or bank details. If you turn on streak reminders, they reach you encrypted through your own browser's push service.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and learning: until you delete your account.
  • Game attempts: 90 days. Reminder records: 90 days.
  • Dashboard action logs: 24 months.
  • Recordings that weren't accepted: 30 days.

Deleting your account, and your data

You can delete your account at any time in your account. It closes at once, you're signed out everywhere, and reminders stop. After 30 days everything about you is deleted for good, including any recordings you made for us. Records of the team's work keep only an ID, never your name or email.
